The mission of Friends of Forest Lane is simple: to build community and create a united voice for neighbors.
Our first initiative as an organization involves the proposed rezoning of the land at Forest Lane and Nuestra. These 8 single-family home sites are owned by the City of Dallas and are a part of The Melshire Estates Neighborhood.
The City is working with a developer in attempt to rezone the 8 lots turning them into a high-density, zero lot line housing complex.
The surrounding neighbors are absolutely in favor of development of the lots at Forest and Nuestra; however, the proposal contains several elements that will be problematic for the thousands of residents in the Forest Lane/Private School Corridor.
With your help, we'll stop the rezoning of these residential lots and turn our focus to projects and events that enhance our community. We have big plans! With your support, we'll be able to host family events, art festivals and car shows, cultivate a community garden, plant trees in our area in tandem with the Texas Tree Foundation, have a monthly farmers market or yoga meet-up. The possibilities are endless!
